Perfect Drywall Cutouts With No Measuring

Perfect for first-time DIYs or the experienced handyperson, the Blind Mark electrical outlet locator uses powerful rare-earth magnets to help you accurately locate and cut electrical outlet access holes in drywall, sheetrock, paneling and other materials with no measuring required. Eliminates costly measuring errors, keeps wasted drywall sheets out of landfills and improves your productivity.

Other drywall locator methods require you to lift and lower heavy drywall sheets multiple times to mark, cut, then install. With the Blind Mark you simply put it up once, cut the hole and you're done.

Works on drywall, plywood, particle board, laminated flooring, Masonite, exterior siding, cement board, tile backsplashes, slate and more.

I have used Calculated Industries products for many years and always found them to exceed expectations. I found the Blind Mark Locator tool to set the bar even higher. It was an invaluable time saver while hanging sheetrock - but also did an amazing job on 1/2" Birch Plywood used to panel a woodworking shop. Buy this tool Now - you will need it. I has saved me hours of time and significantly reduced my scrap pile on the job. I highly recommend it.

I just recently purchased and used this tool and also previously used the Light socket adapter. These are amazing tools and make it so much easier to install the drywall once, instead of multiple times. I have been using these products in a rental property, having to replace all the drywall after a flood from water pipes under the kitchen sink. I would wholeheartedly recommend these to everyone that does drywall work. Thank you...

Beforehand I have been perfectly capable of measuring and locating said outlets, however this is only if I am permitted to be in seclusion most of the day as I labor over calculations. These markers have allowed me to easily and accurately install Sheetrock without fear of committing mayhem, loss of time, and destruction of property. One of those a wonderful tools that you don't need until you need it. Would recommend to amateurs and professionals alike.

These things are an absolute god-send. I can do many things well when it comes to construction. Unfortunately, one of them is measuring out for my boxes. It is time-consuming and sometimes downright confusing when you have so many numbers floating around your thinking space. I stumbled across these on YouTube, not really sure how, but I did and right away knew I had to have them. My local big box stores didn't carry them so I looked to my favorite web marketplace...Amazon. The price was less than I expected and the reviews were amazing. I attributed the bad or middle of the road reviews to user-error. I didn't have a project right away to use them, so they sat for a couple of months before use. Well, I just bought my first home at the ripe old age of 24 and decided I wanted to finish the basement. Using 1/2" drywall these markers make such easy work of finding, marking, and cutting out your boxes first time, every time with no errors. They have made hanging rock such an easy job and maybe...dare I say it...more fun? I know it sounds psychotic, but hanging rock and working towards my goal has been nothing but a pleasure due to these markers. Thanks for a great product, and I hope to expand my collection Blind Mark markers.

While I can't actually quantify how much time Blind Mark has saved me, itís safe to say that the tool has paid for itself with just one job. Iím not a contractor who does this stuff every day, so cutting outlets has always been a time-consuming pain. With Blind Mark, itís much faster and since there are no more errors, Iíve saved additional time in finishing because I donít have to repair my mistakes.

FYI, these things are fantastic. I am using a RotoZip to cut them out, and I'm actually getting better at feeling the boxes. I use plastic nail-on boxes, which even a RotoZip tool can cut into. But as I've been using the lines to help guide me around the boxes, I've gotten much better at feeling the boxes. Still, even if I get good enough to go without the Blind Mark, these things are worth it, as having that line there is very comforting. I was never any good at the RotoZip, so I would measure and cut the boxes before hanging the drywall. The Blind Mark is the best thing for new hangers, or home do-it-yourselfers, like me.

I am not a drywall guy per se but I got a remodeling job which included a lot of drywall work.
Trying to better myself and get faster I watched a lot of videos etc and came across this product.
After reading about I thought I give it try since the job included a lot of cut outs for boxes.
They are very easy to use and they work, one thing I did thou was to mark the directions on them with a black felt pen
since my eyesight is not that good anymore and my glasses are always somewhere else.
In hindsight I wish I gotten them sooner since they are a real time saver and do away with a lot measuring
which takes time and numbers can get mixed up.

Working on my 4th remodel and decided it was time to try something different for location outlets. I've used the old measure and cut by hand then went the power route with a multi tool. Found this to be difficult and time consuming to try and measure and get the boxes to line up correctly. Next tried a RotoZip with tracer bits in the past and found it difficult to use with plastic boxes. The bits heat up pretty quickly and tended to melt the sides of the boxes if not careful.
Then I stumbled onto the Blind Mark XT. Figured I'd give it a shot since I've got 75 plus outlets to cut out on my current project. Honestly I wasn't expecting to be great. To my surprise, this thing REALLY WORKS, and it's easy and accurate every time. No more measuring out every box. Just install the one unit in the box, slide the other unit until the magnets line up, trace, and cut. Save you a lot of time and I would/have recommended this to other DIY people.

I'm a DIYer, do most projects completely alone, and think of things this way - "How many mistakes would I have to make before this product paid for itself?" The answer in this case is 2. (2) 4x12 sheets of drywall screwed up is greater than the cost of this product, so why not get something that makes life easier? Then there's the time consideration - I don't have time to replace mistakes or go to/from the supply house over and over, so GREAT deal in my opinion. Secondly, accuracy is key when cutting out your box holes and this thing really does the trick.

I'm buying these to replace an older set that I bought from Menards a while ago. While I'm not happy to have to replace my stolen set, I am VERY happy to see the updates to the product since I last bought/ used it. The prior version didn't sit well in composite boxes, but these are much better and will work with any box I've tested it with.

The magnets are incredibly strong. I was able to move the locator around through the 3/4" ply of my desk, with the target another 1/4" away from the surface... So there's no way you're not going to get good registration through even 5/8" drywall.

I've done a lot of renovations of homes through the years, and many "professionals" will destroy the wires tucked in the boxes with their rotozips. Well with this tool there's absolutely NO reason to damage your wiring. I really wish more people doing drywall used these. Perfect holes around your electrical boxes every single time.

I am building a new wood shop and wanted a lot of electrical outlets, I have never been good at locating the boxes and was dreading the thought of all the boxes I wanted. I am putting up 7/16 OSB. I have used the Blind Mark XT and cannot believe how easy it is. I even find myself enjoying cutting out the holes and watching them fit perfectly every time. The only thing to watch out for is to make sure the both the interior and exterior locator is pointing the same direction or you will be 1/2 a hole off. This product amazes my friends. Can't recommend this too much.

Easy drywall marking and cut outs 5 out of 5.0
User: from Houston
User Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
In the past year and a half, I have used the Blind Mark products in helping to build nine Habitat for Humanity homes. That's a total of more than 1000 cut-outs for electrical boxes, vents, and lights, so I have some expertise in this area. Before using the Blind Mark products, the crew would often cut the electrical wires stuffed in the boxes (using the "stab the saw in the middle of where you think the box is" technique), or it would be a laborious project of measuring, marking and cutting just to find out that the hole wasn't exactly where you wanted it! Since switching to using the Blind Mark, EVERY hole is perfect, there have not been any cut wires, no forgotten boxes, and our speed has picked up. No more box measuring, just a mark on the floor for each stud location and a ">" or "<" showing what side of the stud a box is on. After the drywall sheet is loosely tacked in place, each box is found and marked using the locator magnet, and then cut-out with a spiral saw using a guide-tip blade to guide around the outside of the box (guide the tool in a counter-clockwise direction for outside cuts!). A knife or keyhole saw could also be used, but the spiral saw is fast and makes a nice clean cut-out. After the holes have been cut, the drywall panel is then pushed all the way to the studs and nailed or screwed. I highly recommend this product to all drywallers, pro and amateur alike.

1. If you're using the typical plastic nail-on new work boxes, remove the little plastic spacers from the side of the box against the stud with a pair of pliers or a razor knife. Otherwise, you have to cut out quite a bit wider or risk blowing out the drywall on the stud-side of the box.
2. I found using a pencil rather than a sharpie made it easy to follow the line accurately.
3. I used an oscillating multi-tool with a Dremel drywall jab-saw blade. This worked very well. It's loud, and cuts a lot slower than a rotozip, but it won't get away from you. I found it best to try to cut the hole tight, pry the piece out and see where the box sits. I had to enlarge a couple of holes slightly before the drywall would fit around the box. Better too small than too big, you can always cut out more. Just don't push on the sheet until you pry the piece out and see how accurate your cut was.
4. Obviously, if you hang sheetrock for a living, you probably can find the boxes and cut them out with a rotozip in your sleep, without using this tool. However, this tool is great for someone starting out or who occasionally hangs drywall.
After cutting a few holes, probably too large, you'll get a good feeling as to where to cut in relation to your pencil line. After the first few boxes, I was cutting extremely tight holes without even trying.
